The OPTIMUM Project (Optimization of Manufacturing and Transportation Infrastructure Processes through Artificial Intelligence Methods) is a joint initiative of the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, PROUNION a.s., and TTC s.r.o. The goal of the project is to develop and validate advanced artificial intelligence models for optimizing industrial manufacturing and transportation processes. The project is supported by the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan under the call focused on the digitalization of the economy (09I05-03-V02).
The main objective of the project is to create a system that, by processing sensor data and monitoring data, will enable the following:
- Prediction of failures, leaks, and anomalies in production and pipeline systems,
- Increased production efficiency and reduced energy and material intensity,
- Automation of decision-making processes at the control unit level,
- Minimization of the environmental impact of industrial activities.
The project utilizes state-of-the-art approaches in machine learning, neural networks, digital twins, IoT sensorics, and multi-source data fusion. The resulting models are tested in a simulation environment that closely reflects real operating conditions. The project operates at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 1 to 3, encompassing phases from systematic literature review and data processing, through modeling and testing, to simulation in a laboratory environment.
Project outputs include:
- Scientific publications,
- Novel AI models tailored for industry,
- Unique monitoring data repositories,
- A foundation for future commercial applications and international cooperation.
The project contributes significantly to the digital transformation of Slovak industry, fostering sustainability and enhancing global competitiveness. Moreover, OPTIMUM strengthens the research capacities of participating entities and promotes the principles of open science and collaboration within the European Research Area (ERA).
